Seminar Reflection
This seminar, Improv and Creativity, was quite interesting and an experience that I won’t forget. It taught me a lot about creativity and changed me as a creative person. One thing I learned about creativity is that creativity can be anything you think of. It doesn’t matter how good quality the idea is, all that matters is that it is your idea and creation. I also learned that creativity doesn’t mean art. I also learned things about my own creative styles. One creative style I learned was the way I create projects such as board games. The idea just pops into my head. For myself as a student and person, I learned that I am more creative than I thought I would be. I used to think that you have to be an artist for a creative mind.
During this course, we were assigned many projects, and that was a challenge for me, since I am a big procrastinator. I had to work with my schedule and find a healthy way of doing my work for this seminar class. One thing I found out was to estimate how much time the project would take, so I made a schedule of preparing for the project before I would do it. I would eat a snack first, then do any little homework assignments that would take me under 10 min. Then, I would do the project. Another thing I would do is open up a google doc and plan everything out in there.
Some of the projects we would do in a group. Working in a group taught me a lot. One thing I learned was that if you just say your ideas then everything will be easier. I also learned how collaboration is fun and easy if you work together and cooperate.
When taking this course, the difficult thing was probably the projects and waking up early. The projects were time consuming and for me I had to figure out how to get it done. Waking up early for the seminar was not a big deal, however my brain was still tired and wouldn’t function well until it woke up. One last hard thing was breakfast. Sometimes I would be dropped off at school at 7:30 to eat. The problem is, I only had around 15 minutes to eat, but I'm a slow eater, so I had to eat quickly and get out to get to seminar on time. However, I did enjoy watching the sun slowly rise up. I also enjoyed seeing friends and being able to talk before we separate for classes. One last thing I could think of that I enjoyed was the activities such as the bench improv.
At the beginning of seminar, when I made the Legos, I felt like I was just learning how creative I can be. At the end of this seminar, and after looking at my manifesto, I feel like I have no limits to be as creative as I can be. I grew by knowing that I can be a creative person with no experience. In the future, this course would have helped me with my future careers and jobs to help create a creative invention to help the world. All in all, this seminar course taught me about creativity, but time does not meet up very well with this course.
