Seminar Reflection

This seminar, Improv and Creativity, was quite interesting and an experience that I won’t forget. It taught me a lot about creativity and changed me as a creative person. One thing I learned about creativity is that creativity can be anything you think of. It doesn’t matter how good quality the idea is, all that matters is that it is your idea and creation. I also learned that creativity doesn’t mean art. I also learned things about my own creative styles. One creative style I learned was the way I create projects such as board games. The idea just pops into my head. For myself as a student and person, I learned that I am more creative than I thought I would be. I used to think that you have to be an artist for a creative mind. During this course, we were assigned many projects, and that was a challenge for me, since I am a big procrastinator. I had to work with my schedule and find a healthy way of doing my work for this seminar class. One thing I found out was to estimate how...

Book Creativity Quotes

Twyla Tharp-The Creative Mindset: “But there's a process that generates creativity—and you can learn it.” “Most creative endeavors don't allow precise planning, but it's still vital to have some sense of how long something is going to take you.” The Creative Mindset: “Those who adopt and master a creative mindset are ordinary people who make things extraordinary…” “At first, it may seem that Jim, the real estate agent, and Howard Shultz, the founder of the Starbucks we know today, have little in common. One is someone whom we might call an average person with an ordinary opportunity; the other is a celebrated billionaire. However, the path each took to success is surprisingly similar. Both saw what others had overlooked. Both challenged the conventional boundaries of their profession. Both escaped assumptions about how their business should work. In other words, both exhibited many of the traits of a creative mindset.”

Improv Project Reflection

This project was very fun and I enjoyed it very much. I liked how we kind of made our own play with our own lighting and sound. Not only was that we made sort of our own play, but we also got to know each other. We all got closer than we were before through our conversations. When we were working on this project, the difficult thing was coming up with ideas for different scenes. An example of this is when we had to try and come up with what me, Nimah, and Toby should do while Izzy was separated from us. We thought of huddling up, just laughing, and spinning around. The easy thing about this was when we practiced and knew what to do. This was a great project as it has made me closer to people and made me learn more about improv. One thing that was interesting was how we all came up with good ideas and we seemed to merge them all together. Something surprising was how well our project went from just discussing an emotion to movements. One frustrating thing was how we had to put a...

Reflection On Creation

Image
I got most of my information from my partner artist, Bob Ross, because he inspired me. I got stuck and frustrated when I struggled with my sketches on what to create. My partner artist helped me because he did nature related paintings and it made me want to do a nature related object with a purpose. Yes, the plate is what I set out to create originally. I think my critiques about my creation made me learn to think about my projects before I create them.  The first thing I would change about my iteration of my creation is to make different shaped plates. An example is instead of having leaf points on the sides like the original, I could make one leaf that has one point and it has smooth, curved edges. The second thing I would change is the colors such as  some orange and yellow for fall. I would also add things like a flower at the bottom for a spring themed plate. The last thing I would change is the sizes and maybe turn some leaves into bowls. I can make the size bigge...

Mood Board Collage

This is my collage, and the companion artist I chose was Kurt Schwitters. He inspired me because I wanted my collage to be one whole picture. I wanted to show the viewers where the ground is and where the sky is and where the middle trees are. Kurt is somewhat similar to mine because I see images within his collages.
